Co-financed with
the EU under the Sectoral Operational Programme for Transport (USOP) managed by
the Ministry of Transport and Infrastructure, under Istanbul Sustainable Urban
Mobility Plan (SUMP) Phase II – Implementation Plan Project, the Second Bus
Priority Lanes Workshop was held on 19 February 2025. The workshop aimed to
enhance the efficiency and safety of Istanbul’s public transport system by
sharing the selection process of bus priority lanes with stakeholders and
gathering feedback on the proposed corridors.
During the
workshop, technical analyses and selection criteria for identifying potential
corridors for bus priority lanes across Istanbul were presented in detail.
Experts and local stakeholders shared their insights on the proposed routes and
engaged in discussions on the implementation processes. Participants evaluated
the potential of bus lanes to reduce travel time, enhance safety, and
contribute to sustainable mobility goals.
Based on
stakeholder recommendations, critical factors to consider in corridor selection
and the necessary steps for the effective implementation of bus priority lanes
were discussed.
Efforts continue
to establish bus priority lanes as part of Istanbul’s vision for a more
accessible, faster, and environmentally friendly transport system.
