Kocaeli Sustainable Urban Transportation Plan (Kocaeli SUMP) Project 2nd Steering Committee Meeting Was Held

Kocaeli Sustainable Urban Mobility Plan (Kocaeli SUMP) Project, which was contracted under the Sectoral Operational Programme for Transport in the second period encompassing the years 2014-2020 of the Instrument for Pre-Accession Assistance (IPA) provided by the European Union to candidate countries, started in August 2022 and will last for 2 years.

The Project Steering Committee, which monitors the progress of the project in line with its objectives, met for the second time at Kocaeli Congress Center on 17 March 2023.

The meeting, hosted by Kocaeli Metropolitan Municipality, Head of Transportation Department, Mr. Ahmet Çelebi and his staff, was attended by the Head of Department for EU Investments, Mrs. Tijen İĞCİ (Phd) on behalf of the Contracting Authority, Mr. Serdar YILMAZ, Contract Manager and Mr. Alper KAYA, Publicity and Visibility Officer.

Information on the completed, ongoing and planned activities of the project was presented by the Team Leader, Mr. Philippe CALVIE and Local Project Manager, Mr. Yücel Erdem DİŞLİ on behalf of the contractor, EGIS & Boğaziçi Proje Consortium.

In the meeting, it was agreed that the completed information collection and field studies should be reviewed depending on the population movements that may arise due to the Kahramanmaraş earthquakes. Furthermore, while ensuring the active participation of stakeholders in the project, visibility studies that will increase awareness about urban mobility will continue.
