Within the scope
of the contract for “Supply of Equipment for Mersin ITS SAP - Lot 3:
Electric Bus and Charging Station” implemented
under the Sectoral Operational Programme for Transport (USOP) managed by the
Ministry of Transport and Infrastructure within the scope of Türkiye-EU
financial cooperation, and for which Mersin Metropolitan
Municipality is the End Recipient of Assistance, a second
technical inspection visit was conducted by representatives of the Ministry of
Transport and Infrastructure and Mersin Metropolitan Municipality to the
production facility of Karsan Otomotiv Sanayii ve
Ticaret A.Ş. in Bursa
on 24–25 July 2025.
As part of the inspection, the production
stations of the electric buses were visited, and information was provided by
the Contractor regarding the production processes.
Subsequently, the electrical, electronic, and mechanical systems of the buses on the production line were examined in detail within the framework of the technical specifications. In this context, particular attention was paid to components such as the electronic control units, interior equipment, and overall system integration.
In the final part of the visit, a test drive
was conducted with one contract-related electric bus that had completed
production and initial inspections, allowing the team to observe the vehicle's
performance. The inspection was successfully completed based on evaluations
regarding compliance with the relevant criteria of the technical
specifications.
This inspection followed the initial visit
conducted on 11–12 June 2025, during which the cataphoresis process applied to
the body structure and the production quality of the body section of the buses
were examined.
These technical inspections carried out within
the scope of the project aim to ensure that the electric buses to be procured
are manufactured in accordance with high standards of quality, safety, and
technical compliance.
