The Gaziantep
Sustainable and Smart Mobility Project (GAUS), co-financed
with the EU under the Sectoral Operational Programme for Transport (USOP)
managed by the Ministry of Transport and Infrastructure, implemented by the
Gaziantep Metropolitan Municipality, the workshop series launched in
February has been successfully completed.
Four
thematic workshops were held to shape the future of urban mobility in
Gaziantep, focusing on active mobility, logistics, individual transport and
parking management, and public transport. The events brought together public
institutions, academics, private sector representatives, and civil society
organizations, fostering a solution-oriented dialogue platform.
The
workshops, which drew significant interest from participants, facilitated
in-depth discussions on key issues such as structural barriers to sustainable
transport, the integration of smart systems into urban mobility, and strategies
to enhance intra-city movement. The findings from these sessions were compiled
into concrete outcomes that will guide the implementation of the GAUS project.
The final
event of the series, the 5th Stakeholder Workshop, was held on 27 May 2025.
During this gathering, the progress made under GAUS was shared, proposed solutions
were evaluated, and feedback was collected on practical implementation
measures.
Contributing
to Gaziantep’s vision of a smart, accessible, and inclusive transport system,
the workshop series went beyond technical planning. It enabled active participation
from all stakeholder groups—ranging from public institutions to academia, civil
society, and the private sector—helping to shape a roadmap based on shared
knowledge and collective insight.
