Among USOP’s projects co-financed with the EU, the SUMP Türkiye made significant contributions towards sustainable urban mobility goals through its intensive efforts in the final two months of 2024.

Here are the highlights of the activities! In November, the 5th Physical Training on "Sustainable Urban Mobility Planning and Active Mobility" was held in Ankara with broad participation from municipalities and experts. This training addressed the health, environmental, and socio-economic benefits of walkable cities, the design of safe pedestrian pathways, the integration of public transport, and the impact of cycling infrastructure on sustainability.

The 25th Online Training, held on 27 November 2024, engaged 390 participants in an interactive learning experience based on international examples and innovative practices in integrated public transport planning.

The project featured key meetings in December. On 4 December 2024, the 4th Steering Committee Meeting evaluated project progress, communication activities, and the contributions of training programmes while reaffirming strong stakeholder collaboration.

During the 9th Task Force Meeting on 19 December 2024, discussions focused on municipal financial management, sustainable funding mechanisms, and the development of the White Policy Book. Additionally, the 26th Online Training, held on 25 December 2024, highlighted the strategic importance of public transport planning and participatory methods, offering a multidisciplinary perspective.

In the new year, our project will continue its efforts to bring sustainable urban mobility to life in our cities, making transport systems more accessible and resilient and taking stronger steps towards a sustainable future with all its stakeholders.
