The second Maritime Transport Workshop, organized as part of the Istanbul SUMP Stage II – Implementation Plan Project, one of the projects under USOP, was held on 9 September 2026 in Istanbul. During the workshop, stakeholders discussed ongoing efforts to give maritime transport a greater role in Istanbul’s transport network. The workshop opened with remarks by Melda Horoz, Head of the IMM Transport Planning Department. Dila Babaoğlu presented work on accessible ferry piers, while Assoc. Prof. Dr. Bekir Bartın and Yiğitcan Altan shared the selection criteria and feasibility studies for potential new maritime transport routes. Participants were also invited to share their views and recommendations on projects to improve the accessibility of ferry piers and the proposed new routes.
