Within the scope
of Gaziantep Intelligent Transport
Systems (GAUS) Project, implemented under the Sectoral
Operational Programme for Transport (USOP) managed by the Ministry of Transport
and Infrastructure of the Republic of Türkiye within the framework of
Türkiye–EU financial cooperation, the second Steering Committee (PSC) Meeting
was held on 19 August 2025 in Gaziantep. The meeting was co-chaired by Dr. Tijen İğci, Head of Department for EU
Investments at the Ministry of Transport and Infrastructure, and Abdullah
Özdal, Head of the Transportation Department at Gaziantep Metropolitan
Municipality.
During the meeting, the progress achieved throughout the project was
reviewed, and the roadmap for the upcoming period was discussed. Presentations
delivered by the GAUS Project team highlighted the results obtained so far and
the plans for the next stages.
Within the scope of the GAUS Project so far:
- Gaziantep’s transportation and logistics needs have been comprehensively
analyzed.
- Strong cooperation has been established with stakeholders at both local and
national levels.
- Numerous training programmes and workshops have been organized, along with
a study visit to Rome.
- A customized Intelligent Transport Systems (ITS) architecture for Gaziantep
has been developed, aiming to ensure more effective traffic management and
optimized parking solutions.
- The project has been successfully implemented in the field through trainings, study visits, and visibility activities.
Additionally, the GAUS Project stands out for its significant contribution
to aligning Türkiye’s national Intelligent Transport Systems (ITS) architecture
with EU standards through comprehensive, ongoing efforts.
The meeting also fostered strong
collaboration environment among all stakeholders.
