A Study Visit to Spain was held in scope of the U-IMT Project, one of the important projects of USOP
A Study Visit to Spain has been organized in scope of the “Strengthening Intermodal Transport Services in Turkish Railway Sector (U-IMT)” Project, which is one of the important projects of USOP and co-financed by the European Union and the Republic of Türkiye, of which the Strategy Development Directorate of the Ministry of Transport and Infrastructure is the end recipient authority.
Between the dates of 6-10 May 2024, visits were made to transportation-related organizations in the cities of Madrid, Zaragoza and Barcelona. In addition to the Key Expert and Technical Assistance Team, the Study Visit delegation consisted of members from the Ministry of Transport and Infrastructure, the Directorate of Strategy Development, the Directorate General of Transport Services Regulation, the Directorate General for European Union Affairs and Foreign Relations, the Directorate General of Infrastructure Investments, TCDD and TCDD Taşımacılık A.Ş.
The Study Visit commenced in
Madrid, with visits made to the Embassy of the Republic of Turkey in Madrid,
the Spanish Ministry of Transport, Mobility and Urban Agenda and the
Madrid-Abroñigal Mercancías Terminal of RENFE, which is the Spanish State
Railways Train Management. The Study Visit continued with a visit to the ADIF
Plaza Intermodal Terminal of the Zaragoza Logistics Center (ZLC), and then the
TmZ - Railway-Port Transportation section of the Logistics Center was also visited.
During the Barcelona leg of the visit, Barcelona Port was visited, a sea visit
at the Port, Morrot railway terminal visit, container terminal visits were made
and information regarding the port network strategy was provided by the
Barcelona Port Authority. At the last stop of the Study Visit, a visit was made
to the European School of Short Sea Shipping located in the Port of Barcelona.
