The ʻTransport Systems, Planning and Modelling - Macro Level' Training of “Strengthening Intermodal Transport Services in Turkish Railway Sector (U-IMT)” Project which is financed under the Sectoral Operational Programme (USOP) for Transport managed by the Ministry of Transport and Infrastructure, of which the Strategy Development Directorate of the Ministry of Transport and Infrastructure is the End Beneficiary, was provided by Prof. Dr. Umut Rıfat Tuzkaya.
In the training held in Ankara on 26th and 27th of September 2024, representatives from the Project's stakeholders; the Ministry of Transport and Infrastructure Strategy Development Directorate and other relevant units of the Ministry, as well as the Directorate General of Turkish State Railways (TCDD), TCDD Taşımacılık A.Ş., the Ministry of Trade Directorate General of International Trade in Services; Department of Logistics and Transportation Services.
Over two days, the training
covered fundamental concepts of transportation corridors. Sessions included introduction
to sustainable planning process, definition of objectives, integrated
sustainable policies, analysis of community needs, travel patterns, and
demographics, distribution logistics, relevance of logistics in economic policy,
implementation management, transport policy assessment and results monitoring, planning
tools. The training was interactive, adapting a Q&A format throughout the
sessions.
