
SUMP Trabzon Opening Ceremony Was Held in Trabzon on 26 January 2024 with the Participation of the Minister of Transportation and Infrastructure Abdulkadir Uraloğlu
The Opening Ceremony of the Trabzon Sustainable Urban Mobility Plan (SKUp)
Project, which started in June 2023 under the Transport Sectoral Operational
Programme, was held in Trabzon on January 26, 2024, with the participation of
the public.
The opening ceremony was attended by Minister of Transport and
Infrastructure Mr. Abdulkadir Uraloğlu, Trabzon Governor Mr. Aziz Yıldırım,
Trabzon MP Mr. Adil Karaismailoğlu, Trabzon Metropolitan Municipality Mayor Mr.
Murat Zorluoğlu, Director General for European Union Affairs and Foreign
Relations and Head of Operating Structure Mr. Burak Aykan, and Head of the
Financial Cooperation Section of the EU Delegation to Türkiye. Mr. Odoardo
Como.
After the opening speeches, the project presentation of Trabzon SKUp was
presented by Team Leader Mr. Jose Laffond Yges on behalf of the TYPSA &
Boğaziçi Proje & KAISER Engineering consortium. The presentation touched on
the main outlines of the project and the necessity of developing a SKUp.
The opening ceremony continued in the afternoon session with the SKUp Projects and International Examples Forum moderated by Head of Department for EU Investments Tijen İĞCİ (Ph.D). At the forum, a briefing was given on the outputs of the Sustainable Mobility Plans planned in Türkiye and Europe with the contributions of TYPSA representatives Jose Laffond Yges and Fransisco Blazquez and Cüneyt Çetintaş, Kocaeli Metropolitan Municipality Transportation Department Planning Branch Manager, provided information about the Kocaeli SKUp planning processes and the current situation in the project.
Subsequently, a Stakeholder Information Presentation was held under the
moderation of Communication Expert Murat Çağatay, (PhD.) and the SKUp themes
were explained under 6 headings: Urban Planning and Non-Motorized
Transportation, Public Transport Development, Road Network and Private
Vehicles, Governance, Environment and Climate and Digitalization. The event
ended after the briefings on the topics identified for the thematic workshops
planned within the scope of the project.
