A study visit was carried out to Stockholm and Linköping, Sweden on 24-26 September 2024 in the scope of the Strengthening the Transport Operating Structure and ERAs in IPA II (2014-2020) Period Project which is implemented under the Sectoral Operational Programme for Transport (USOP) as part of the Türkiye-EU financial cooperation managed by the Ministry of Transport and Infrastructure.
A delegation of 8 members consisting of the
Head of Department for European Union Investments, 5 staff from the Department for
EU Investments and 2 project managers met with the authorities and carried out
field visits in Sweden to examine possible cooperation and ongoing projects.
On 24 September, the Turkish delegation, which
started its activities in Stockholm under the chairmanship of Tijen İğci (PhD),
Head of Department for EU Investments, met with the officials from the Swedish
Ministry of Rural Affairs and Infrastructure and Trafikverket (Swedish
Transport Administration) on the first day. The Swedish officials shared their
knowledge and experience with the delegation on the transport practices in
Sweden and the projects implemented and planned. The delegation was also
informed about ongoing investments and support for EU projects.
Afterwards, the Turkish delegation visited the Embassy of Turkey in Sweden and met with Ambassador Yönet Can Tezel and embassy officials. The delegation exchanged views on cooperation opportunities between Türkiye and Sweden.
On the same day, during the field visit to
Stockholm Central Station, the delegation was informed about the ongoing Getingmidjan
Project, and the planned renovation works at the station.
On 25 September,
detailed presentations on traffic safety, public transport projects and future
transport systems were made during the meetings held at Trafikverket office. On
the same day, information about electric trucks and charging infrastructure was
obtained within the scope of field visits to Ragn-Sells and Martin &
Servera facilities.
On 26 September, a visit was made to VTI - Swedish National Road and
Transport Research Institute in Linköping. During this visit, information on
accident safety, driving simulators and research on new transport technologies
were shared. Finally, a field visit was made to the Linköping Project Office
and the new railway line being built in Sweden within the scope of the East
Link Project.
