Co-financed with
the EU under the Sectoral Operational Programme for Transport (USOP) managed by
the Ministry of Transport and Infrastructure, under Istanbul Sustainable Urban
Mobility Plan (SUMP) Phase II – Implementation Plan Project, participation took place in the Marmara Urban
Forum (MARUF 2025), organized by Marmara Municipalities Union at the Haliç
Congress Center between 1-3 October 2025. At the Urban Expo exhibition area,
the Istanbul SUMp stand presented the city’s sustainable transport vision and
recent project developments to participants.
On the first day of the event, during the session titled “Reaching
Sustainability: Shared Experiences,” Senior Urban Planner Dilara Öztaşkın from
Istanbul Metropolitan Municipality delivered a presentation. Öztaşkın
highlighted the experiences gained during the preparation of the Istanbul SUMp,
emphasizing the importance of data-driven planning, stakeholder collaboration,
and sustainable mobility goals.
Experts from Konya and Kocaeli Metropolitan Municipalities, along with
representatives from academia and the private sector, also contributed to the
session by sharing their SUMp experiences. This allowed for an exchange of
knowledge between cities and discussion of future cooperation opportunities in
sustainable urban mobility planning.
MARUF 2025 provided a valuable platform for sharing Istanbul’s SUMp
experience with national and international stakeholders, contributing to the
advancement of a sustainable transport vision.
