Co-financed with the EU under the Sectoral Operational
Programme for Transport (USOP) managed by the Ministry of Transport and
Infrastructure, under Istanbul Sustainable Urban Mobility Plan (SUMP) Phase II
– Implementation Plan Project, the Women-Friendly Mobility Workshop was held on 14
November 2025, with the participation of NGOs, experts and institutional
stakeholders.
The workshop opened with a speech by Nilgün Tezcan, Head of IMM Transport
Planning Department.
The open sessions and moderation were led by Senior Expert Eda Zaloğlu.
The program addressed safety, accessibility and comfort issues faced by
women in urban mobility, while participants discussed approaches to improve
inclusiveness and mobility safety.
An overview of the ongoing pilot project work under SUMP Stage II was
presented by Figen Atasever, IMM Pilot Project Officer.
The event marked a significant step toward strengthening gender-sensitive
mobility planning in Istanbul.
