
In the scope of the Strengthening the
Transport Operating Structure and ERAs in IPA II (2014-2020) Project, a study
visit was conducted to Luxembourg and Belgium on 4-8 June 2023. The Turkish delegation
of 8 participants, consisting of the Head of Department for EU Investments and
its staff, met with the authorities in Luxembourg and Antwerp to examine
possible collaborations and ongoing projects and made site visits.
The delegation started the study visit in Luxembourg
on June 5th and held meetings
with Mobility Directorate, Traffic Department on the first day. The representatives
of the Directorate shared knowledge and experience about mobility projects in
the city of Luxembourg, city priorities and new innovations, funding of
projects and the EU-Funded projects. On the first and hectic day, the Ministry
of Mobility and Public Works representatives presented transport policy and funding
mechanisms to our delegation and a site visit was made to Intermodal Terminal. On the second day
of the visit, the Turkish delegation came together with the European
Investment Bank (EIB) Luxembourg Headquarters
representatives to discuss alternative ways
of implementation and cooperation possibilities to help Türkiye to overcome the
crises in the regions that were affected by the catastrophic earthquakes. In the afternoon, the delegation held a meeting with European
Court of Auditors Headquarters representatives to discuss the management,
control and auditing of large infrastructure projects.
On June 7th, the last day of the
study visit, the Turkish delegation conducted site visits to New Park &
Ride Building that links private and public transport (cars, bikes and trams)
and to the construction site of the transformation of the road system and
cycling infrastructure, in Antwerp, Belgium.
