The Opening Meeting of “Türkiye’s Net Zero Emission Roadmap for Transport” Project, one of the projects of USOP, was held in Ankara
The “Türkiye's Net Zero Emission Roadmap for Transport” Project,
implemented under USOP with the financial cooperation of the European Union and
the Republic of Türkiye, of which the Ministry of Transport and Infrastructure
Strategy Development Department is the beneficiary, was officially introduced
to the public at a launch event held in Ankara on 24 April 2025.
Minister of Transport and Infrastructure H.E Abdulkadir Uraloğlu attended
the event and shared Türkiye's sustainable transport vision and the strategic
steps taken towards achieving the 2053 net-zero emission target.
Opening speeches were also delivered by Jürgis Vilčinskas, Deputy Head of
the Delegation of the European Union to Türkiye, Bülent Özcan, Director General
for Financial Cooperation and Project Implementation at the Directorate for EU
Affairs of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, and Mücahit Arman, Director General
for Strategy Development at the Ministry of Transport and Infrastructure. They
emphasized the importance of Türkiye-EU cooperation within the scope of the
project.
During the event, the project introduction film was showcased, and journalist and author Güven İslamoğlu contributed to the program with a speech. Following this, a detailed presentation was made, explaining the project's objectives, core components, and implementation process.
Covering road,
rail, maritime, air, and urban transport modes, the project aims to facilitate
the transition towards a cleaner, safer, and more environmentally friendly
transport system. It presents a concrete, data-driven, and actionable roadmap
to achieve net-zero emissions in transport by 2053.
The event
concluded in an environment of broad engagement, with the participation of
representatives from public institutions, international organizations, civil
society, and the private sector.
