The kick-off meeting of the Düzce Sustainable Urban
Mobility Plan (SUMP) Project, financed by the European Union and the Republic
of Türkiye took place on October 9, 2023. The
Project aims to promote sustainable urban mobility in Düzce, Contracting
Authority for the Project is the T.R. Ministry of Transport and Infrastructure,
and the End Recipient is Düzce Municipality.
The meeting which chaired by the Head of Department for EU Investments Ms. Tijen İğci (PhD), was attended by Mr. Faruk Özlü (PhD), the
Mayor of Düzce, Mr. Akif Türkel, Transport
and Civil Protection tor Program Manager of the Delegation of the European
Union to Türkiye, representatives from Department
for EU Investments of T.R. Ministry of Transport and Infrastructure, Düzce Municipality, Contractor
representatives, and the project team.
Following the remarks of Dr. Faruk Özlü and Mr. Akif
Türkel about the significance of the Project, the meeting was followed by a presentation on
an overview of the project's scope, implementation and work plan. Meeting
continued with the speech of the Key
Experts, Mr. Bas Govers and Mr. Patrick van Egmond on the importance of SUMP
projects and convenience of Düzce for the SUMP implementation.
