The Common Vision for Kocaeli Was Determined by the Votes of Stakeholders and Citizens Within the Scope of Kocaeli Sustainable Urban Mobility Plan
The next step
after the Thematic Workshops, which were held within the scope of Kocaeli
Sustainable Urban Mobility Plan Project and based on the participatory process
in planning, was the Common Vision Meeting. Many public institutions,
organizations and NGOs participated in the meeting held at Kocaeli Congress
Center on June 14, 2023.
Mr. Ahmet
Çelebi, Head of Transportation Department of Kocaeli Metropolitan Municipality,
who made the opening speech of the project at the meeting, conveyed the general
objectives and the expectations from the project.
Then, the team
leader of the project, Philippe Calvie, emphasized the importance of the
project and the participatory process and explained the next steps after the
determination of the common vision.
In the
presentations made by the project experts, detailed information was given about
the project and the participation process. Project coordinator Ms. Melike Sarım
Boynuyoğun; gave information about the work done during the 10-month project
period, Mr. Murat Çağatay, the communication and participation expert, shared
the results of 12 thematic workshops.
During the
determination of the Common Vision, as a result of the thematic workshops, the
15 most emphasized terms and 3 different vision sentences created with these terms
were revealed. With the voting attended by 150 people, the 3rd
vision sentence was chosen by the stakeholders and citizens as the Common
Vision of Kocaeli.
