
“Technical Assistance for the Capacity Building of KGM for the Road Infrastructure Safety Management in Turkey” successfully held its 1st Project Steering Committee Meeting
The General Directorate of Highways of the Ministry of Transport and
Infrastructure held the first Project Steering Committee Meeting of its project
“Technical Assistance for the Capacity Building of KGM for the Road
Infrastructure Safety Management in Turkey” funded by the EU and the Republic
of Turkey, online on Friday, May 7, 2021.
The stages and work plans of the KGM project, which started to be
implemented in February 2021, were presented and discussed in detail among
representatives of the KGM, EU Investments Department of the General
Directorate of European Union and Foreign Relations, the Directorate for EU
Affairs, EU Delegation and the Contractor of the Project, WEglobal Danışmanlık
A.Ş.
The project which provides support to increase
the institutional and administrative capacity of KGM in the field of
transportation, aims to achieve a shift towards a safer, environmentally
friendly transport system reflecting a more balanced modal split. Within the
scope of the project, whose implementation period is 24 months; the purpose is
to harmonise Turkish Legislation with Directive 2008/96/EC and enhance capacity
at KGM to implement road infrastructure safety management, resulting in
enhanced road infrastructure safety management.
