The Kick-Off Meetings of Lot-3 (Electric Bus
and Charging Station) and Lot 1 (IT Equipment and Software)
contracts of the supply component of the Mersin ITS SAP Project, of
which Mersin Metropolitan Municipality is the End Beneficiary, implemented under the Sectoral
Operational Programme for Transport (USOP) as part of the Türkiye-EU financial
cooperation managed by the Ministry of Transport and Infrastructure, were held
online on 23 January 2025 and 10 February 2025.
The meetings were chaired by Tijen İğci (PhD),
Head of Department for EU Investments, and attended by Ersan Topçuoğlu, Head of Transport Department of Mersin
Metropolitan Municipality, Murat Eren, the Head of Machine Maintenance and
Repair Department, representatives of the Department for EU Investments,
representatives of Mersin Metropolitan Municipality, representatives of the
contractors.
Following the opening speeches of Tijen İğci
(PhD), Ersan Topçuoğlu and Murat Eren emphasizing the importance of the
project, the meeting was concluded with presentations on the general scope,
operation and progress plan of the project.
Within the scope of Lot 3 contract, 12 m
electric buses will be purchased and integrated into to the existing fleet to
support the urban public transportation network due to the increase in
migration to the city due to the 6 February 6 2023 earthquakes in Mersin, and
charging stations will be installed.
With the Lot 1 contract, it is aimed to
increase the Municipality's current hardware capacity in accordance with the
new AUS architecture to be designed in Mersin by supplying information
technology (IT) equipment. Within this framework, system products such as
servers, storages, network devices such as spine switch, san switch and tor
switch, web application firewalls, and new generation firewalls will be
purchased.
