Field Visit to Bulgaria: A High Level Ministerial Delegation Examined the Bulgarian Example.

More concrete steps are being taken in the Halkalı-Kapıkule Railway Project, which would complete the Turkish-European transport connections. While the planning phase still underway, a field visit has taken place to examine the work being realized on the Bulgarian side.
The delegation headed by Mr. Bekir Gezer acting Director General for Foreign Relations and EU Affairs-Ministry of Transport- Maritime Affairs and Communication and the Head of Operational Structure was informed by their counterparts in Bulgaria during a series of meetings where exchange of views have taken place. The delegation also included Mr. İsa Apaydın Vice General Director of Turkish State Railways, Mr. Nedim Yeşil Head of EU Investments Department -Ministry of Transport, Maritime Affairs and Communication and Mr. ismail Murtazaoğlu, Head of Railway Construction Department-Turkish State Railways.
During the field visit, technicalities regarding the railway on the Bulgarian side, which are of upmost importance for the future undertakings on the Turkish side, have been extensively elaborated.
The Halkalı-Kapıkule Railway which is planned under Transport Operational Programme, is the railway that would realize the connection of the Trans-European Transport Network (TEN-T) Corridor IV and Turkey.
