Closing of the European Mobility Week Took Place in Istanbul, with a Bicycle Tour, Walk and a Reception Where Plaques of Appreciation Were Presented
The closing of the European
Mobility Week was held with the Car-Free Day event in Eyüpsultan, Istanbul within
the scope of the 'European Union Support Project for Sustainable Urban Mobility
in Cities' (SKUp Turkey), financed by the Republic of Türkiye and the European
Union (EU), of which the Ministry of Transport and Infrastructure is the Contracting
Authority and the Union of Municipalities of Türkiye is the End Beneficiary.
Istanbul Deputy Governor Mustafa Asıf Alkan, TBB President and Balıkesir
Metropolitan Municipality Mayor Yücel Yılmaz, Head of the Delegation of the EU to
Türkiye Ambassador Nikolaus Meyer-Landrut, Eyüpsultan Mayor Deniz Köken, on
behalf of the Contracting Authority Contract Manager M. Kubilay Atlay and the
cycling group attended the European Mobility Week Car-Free Day event hosted by
TBB. Participants pedaled from Eyüpsultan Pier to Otantik Bazaar, then walked
in the historical area to TBB's building near the beach. The week ended with a
reception held in the garden of TBB's Istanbul office in Eyüp, where plaques of
appreciation were given to the project stakeholders who contributed to the
project.
In addition, live broadcasts were
made on social media from the event area, where many cycling citizens,
well-known people and organizations participated, allowing the event to be watched
live.
