5th Meeting of SUMP İzmir Project’s Interdepartmental Working Group Was Held

On January 16, 2024, the opening speech of the 5^th Interdepartmental Working Group Meeting  of the SUMP İzmir Project, which is financed under the Sectoral Operational Programme for Transport,  was delivered by Ms. Demet Burç, Transportation Planning Manager of Izmir Metropolitan Municipality (IMM). At the meeting attended by Mr. Kubilay Atlay, Contract Manager in the Ministry of Transport and Infrastructure, Mr. Hakan Uzun, the Head of the Transportation Planning Department at IMM, and Mr. Alper Deri, the Transportation Planning Branch Manager of the ESHOT Directorate General, the Activity-Based Transportation Model, developed for the first time in Türkiye under the scope of the Project, was introduced to the participants.

With the participation of 48 representatives from the relevant institutions, the meeting also addressed capacity building activities according to the needs of IMM for this model.

This important meeting highlighted the milestones in Izmir's transition to a sustainable and efficient transport system. The next Interdepartmental Working Group Meeting is planned to take place in March, 2024.
