
Within the framework of Türkiye–EU financial
cooperation, the 1st Steering Committee Meeting of the “Public
Transportation Gets Smarter in Denizli” Project, financed under the Ministry of
Transport and Infrastructure’s Sectoral Operational Programme for Transport,
was held on 6 May 2025, in Denizli.
The meeting was attended by representatives of
the Denizli Metropolitan Municipality Mayor Bülent Nuri Çavuşoğlu, Head of
Department for EU Investments of the Ministry of Transport and Infrastructure, Tijen
İğci (PhD), a representative of the Delegation of the European Union to Türkiye
Akif Türkel, experts of the Contracting Authority, representatives of the contractor firm, and
consortium partners.
During the meeting, the current progress of the
project, technical implementation efforts, expected outputs, and the impact of
smart transportation systems on urban life were discussed. Participants
exchanged views on improving traffic efficiency, introducing environmentally
friendly transportation solutions, and managing urban mobility through digital
technologies.
The “Public Transportation Gets Smarter in
Denizli” Project aims to enhance the city’s public transportation system
through sustainable, accessible, and innovative approaches, thereby
contributing both to the quality of life of its residents and to environmental
sustainability.
