the Ministry of Transport and Infrastructure, under Istanbul Sustainable Urban
Mobility Plan (SUMP) Phase II – Implementation Plan Project, participation took place in the CIVITAS
Urban Mobility Days 2025 conference, organized by the European Commission
in Vilnius, Lithuania from 30 September to 2 October 2025. Bringing together high-level
representatives from across Europe, the event served as a key international
platform for discussing the future of sustainable urban mobility.
At the event, the Istanbul SUMP stand enabled participants to learn about
the city’s sustainable transport vision and the progress of the project.
On 30 September 2025, during the session titled “SUMP Guidelines: What’s
New?”, Melda Horoz, Head of the Transport Planning Department at Istanbul
Metropolitan Municipality, responded to a question posed by the moderator. Melda
Horoz highlighted the challenges encountered during the
implementation of Istanbul’s SUMP, offering insights to the international

sustainable mobility planning with European cities, while enhancing knowledge
exchange and opportunities for future cooperation.
