‘’The Sustainable Urban Mobility Data Evaluation Workshop’’ within the scope of the Istanbul Sustainable Urban Mobility Plan
(SUMP) Phase II Implementation Project, jointly
co-financed with the EU within the framework of the Sectoral Operational
Programme for Transport (USOP) managed by the Ministry of Transport and
Infrastructure, was
held on May 28, 2025.
The workshop started with the opening speech of Melda Horoz, IBB
Transportation Planning Branch Manager, and focused on approaches to support
data-driven decision-making processes in transportation planning.
Project leader Shaleen Srivastava presented a comprehensive framework
of quantitative and qualitative data evaluation methods. Participants had the
opportunity to discuss the differences between the two methods and how they can
be used together.
Later in the day, in the forum section, implementation challenges and
solutions were discussed through “inadequate data assessment scenarios”.
The workshop contributed to the process of developing a data-driven
and holistic approach to transportation planning in Istanbul.
