
Within the scope
of Türkiye-EU financial cooperation and under the Sectoral Operational
Programme for Transport (USOP), the Gaziantep Bicycle Festival as part of the
Gaziantep Sustainable and Smart Mobility Strategy Plan (GAUS) Project, which is
co-financed by the European Union and for which Gaziantep Metropolitan
Municipality is the Final Beneficiary, brought together bicycle enthusiasts of
all ages.Held on 25 May 2025 at
Festivals Park, the event brought together cycling enthusiasts of all ages.
Around 600 residents of Gaziantep pedaled together to send a message of peace
and unity.
Planned in line with GAUS’s vision for environmentally friendly,
accessible, and people-oriented mobility, the festival aimed to promote
cycling, encourage healthy lifestyles, and increase the visibility of
sustainable transport modes.
The 5-kilometer city ride, launched by Deputy Mayor Halil Uğur, attracted
high participation and filled the city streets with vibrant scenes. Throughout
the day, the festival also hosted various fun activities such as children’s
cycling tracks, the Best Decorated Bike Contest, Bike Wheel Game, Bike
Challenge, Balloon Twisting Workshop, and the Ride, Capture, Experience photo
event. At the end of the festival, 1 scooter, 2 adult bikes, and 15 children’s
bikes were raffled off as prizes.
The Gaziantep Bicycle Festival was more than just a sporting event—it was a
powerful day of awareness for healthy living, environmental consciousness, and
community solidarity.
