Within the scope
of the Gaziantep Sustainable and Smart Urban Mobility Strategy (GAUS) Project,
which is co-financed by the European Union under the Sectoral Operational
Programme for Transport (USOP) managed by the Ministry of Transport and
Infrastructure, Gaziantep Metropolitan Municipality Mayor Fatma Şahin, Director
General for European Union Affairs and Foreign Relations at the Ministry of
Transport and Infrastructure Burak Aykan, and the accompanying delegation
visited Karsan’s factory in Bursa on 20 September2025, to see the buses
approaching the final stage of production.
The delegation
received information about the production process of the e-ATA buses, developed
with 100% domestic technology, and inspected the vehicles on site.
With the
vehicles produced within the scope of the project, Gaziantep will become the
first municipality in Türkiye to have an 18-meter electric bus fleet equipped
with LFP batteries and capable of bidirectional charging. Gaziantep will become
a pioneering city not only in Türkiye but also at the regional level in the
field of sustainable mobility. This step, taken within the framework of the
“Sustainable and Smart Mobility Strategy Plan for Gaziantep,” will not only
strengthen the city’s public transportation infrastructure but also contribute
to environmental sustainability.
