A study visit to the Netherlands was carried out
between 13-18 October 2024 within the framework of Düzce Sustainable Urban Mobility
Plan Project (Düzce SUMP), implemented under the Sectoral
Operational Programme for Transport (USOP) as part of the Türkiye-EU financial
cooperation managed by the Ministry of Transport and Infrastructure and for
which the Düzce
Municipality is the End Beneficiary. Düzce Sustainable
Urban Mobility Plan (SUMP) project team participated in a study visit to
examine sustainable mobility solutions in various cities of the Netherlands. On
the first day, the visit started with presentations on SUMP projects with
Goudappel company in Amsterdam and continued with the examination of the city's
bicycle-friendly transportation structure. On the second day, the integration
of public transportation and bicycle lanes and traffic regulations were
observed in Den Haag, Delft and Rotterdam. Workshops in Deventer and Breukelen
focused on traffic safety and the effects of data analysis tools, while in
Houten, car-free space and bike lane solutions were examined. The visit was
completed with a detailed presentation of sustainable mobility transformation
in Utrecht. The contributions of the information and experiences obtained at
the end of the study to the Düzce SUMP project were evaluated.
