The study visit to Luxembourg, conducted between
November 27 and 29, 2024, aimed to facilitate a knowledge exchange on
sustainable urban mobility and financing opportunities within the scope of the Düzce
SUMP project. On the first day, the delegation visited Sales-Lentz Electric Bus
Operations, where the company highlighted its goal of achieving a 100% electric
fleet, rapid charging infrastructure, and sustainability strategies.
Sales-Lentz emphasized innovative methods such as energy efficiency and the
integration of solar energy in its operations.
On the second day, the delegation visited the
European Investment Bank (EIB) to discuss the €27 billion financing provided to
Turkey over the past 20 years and explore potential collaboration opportunities
for the Düzce SUMP project. During the meeting, the Düzce Municipality
presented a detailed overview of projects, including public transport
corridors, bike lanes, and low-emission zones, showcasing the city’s
sustainable mobility goals.
On the final day, the delegation visited Luxtram
to explore Luxembourg’s tramway system. Discussions focused on innovations such
as wire-free electric trams, rapid charging technologies, and the free public
transport model. The visit also covered future plans, including the expansion
of new tram lines and depot facilities.
