
Within the scope of
Türkiye–EU financial cooperation, the Düzce Sustainable Urban Mobility Plan
(SUMP) Project, co-financed under the Sectoral Operational Programme for
Transport (USOP) was presented to the members of the Düzce Municipal Council on
7 April 2025.
The meeting, held in
the Assembly Hall of Düzce Municipality, was attended by council members,
relevant department heads, and project staff. The agenda focused on the
project’s objectives, the work carried out to date, and the strategic actions
proposed for implementation.
Bas Govers, the
Project Team Leader, delivered a presentation that highlighted the concept of
sustainable mobility, and the city-specific policies designed in line with EU
standards. He shared the results of technical analyses, fieldwork, and
transport modelling carried out throughout the project, emphasizing how the
gathered data could support evidence-based policymaking in Düzce.
The meeting continued
interactively with questions and contributions from council members, who
expressed strong support for the project and its potential to deliver long-term
value to the city.
