As part of the
European Mobility Week of Düzce Sustainable Urban Mobility Plan (SUMP) which
is financed under the Sectoral Operational Programme (USOP) for Transport
managed by the Ministry of Transport and Infrastructure, was held on 22 September
2024 a large-scale event in Düzce. Participants set off from Melensu Park, one
of the most beautiful spots of the city, and cycled to Anıt Park in this event
organized to contribute to Düzce's sustainable mobility goals. This event aimed
both to increase environmental awareness and to promote healthy living.
After the bike ride, participants were divided
into groups for the plogging activity. This environmentalist activity, known as
“Run and Collect Garbage”, enabled environmental cleaning while running through
the streets of Düzce. Citizens participating in the event contributed to the
cleanliness of the city by acting in an environmentally sensitive manner while
doing sports.
These events, which took place during the
European Mobility Week, were organized with the support of Düzce Municipality,
Düzce SUMP and relevant institutions and were highly appreciated as a part of
the city's future mobility plans.
